About Us
Rustic & Wild Florist is an independent business located in a very prominent position of the beautiful village of Catshill, Bromsgrove.
Let me introduce ourselves - Rustic & Wild Florist’s journey to date.
Hello! I’m Rachel, the proud owner of Rustic & Wild Florist, Bromsgrove.
Having worked as a registered nurse for many years, in my late 20’s I decided to follow my dream and signed up for my level 2 in floristry. Whilst completing the course I was working as a community nurse in Sandwell; my manager at the time allowed me the time off I needed to complete my qualification at college which I attended every Saturday for an academic year. I fell in love with the art of floristry and decided to leave, full time nursing and work 4 days a weeks in a local, extremely, busy florist in Halesowen alongside some of the best in the business and continued to work two days a week as a nurse.
It was whilst working as an employed florist I decided to do my 18 month, Level 3 Diploma in Floristry. This was tough!! I had not long lost my father - showing me that life is too short to wait…follow your dreams! And then, I found out I was pregnant the day after signing up and paying for the course! ‘What have I done!’ I thought, but, with the support of my family, friends, colleagues and college staff the course was completed!
When I returned to work after maternity leave it was difficult juggling two different jobs and financially, with the cost of childcare fees and the ever growing household bills etc I made the tough decision to return to the NHS as a full time Nursing Sister…then Covid struck! After working a year during Covid I decided enough was enough and longed to return to what I loved doing…Floristry! So, I left nursing altogether, became self employed and never looked back! (Well, mostly never!) Oh, and somewhere in this time, I completed my level 2 in creating a business!
I first opened Rustic & Wild back in September 2022, as a little lodge based at Singletons Garden Centre - a stepping stone really, to start off and see where the world of self employed floristry took me. Now, almost 3 years on, we are a well established part of the community in the beautiful village of Catshill, Bromsgrove. We come highly recommended by fellow, local businesses including funeral directors and wedding venues which we are truly grateful for their continued support. And, over the years, a lot of our customers have become like friends; they hear my story (the girls at work are probably sick of hearing it!) and they get to know the team and return again and again. Our customers know my journey, how I take this industry seriously and how important it is to me that every single order that leaves my shop is absolute perfection - nothing less! The shop is my baby, I go over and above for my customers and check everything with a fine-tooth comb before it leaves as extremely high standards is what really sets us apart. And all this has grown from a real passion, lifetime love and longing to be a qualified, professional florist.
If you’re local and you’ve not already, come and say ‘Hi’ next time you are passing! So many people still come in to the shop and say ‘I haven’t been in here yet, isn’t it a lovely, little shop!’ And it truly is, a little gem, where you don’t only find flowers but a fantastic variety of plants, cards, gifts and more!
Being a level 3 Florist myself and each member of my team having recognised, vocational qualifications, I can safely say that we are specialists in all aspects of floristry, including wedding and funeral floral work. We don’t just say we are something to try and get the work - we are everything and more that we advertise and promote to our much respected, valued customers.
So, there you go! Everything and anything is possible if you have the courage to pursue your dreams in life. Rustic & Wild Florist is pure proof of this!
